If our cmdr in chief is suspected beyond reasonable doubt of having committed treason can and should our military arrest him
Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter, or classified information. If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given.

I get a lot of static for being openly critical of this Administration. As a retiree, I have more latitude to say what I'm thinking and I have the ability to say things without fear of losing my job.

For active duty, not so much. Not that long ago, a Marine Sgt was given an OTH discharge for using his Facebook page to criticize the Cmdr-in-Chief.

I'd like to get your opinions on General James Mattis and other General Officers being openly critical of the failures of this Administration. Are they right to do so? Or should they just gloss over the mistakes and do their utmost to make the Administration look good?

You may be retired, but in many legal terms that puts you on equal ground with those on Active Duty. Your question has been answered correctly many times in this discussion: NO, the military does not and should not be involved in arresting a President, regardless of what he was (hypothetically) found guilty of.

You have responded to anyone's criticism of your statements with lengthy diatribes filled with angry and judgmental rhetoric, and many unsubstantiated claims. I do not find this line of thinking and passive call to action the least bit patriotic, as you probably envision it to be.

You phrase your question as a hypothetical, but you intend it as anything but. While many on this forum are no longer actively serving, I find this kind of false flag 'discussion' to be wholly inappropriate on this forum.

Big difference between a group that has known caliphate-building ideals taking over a city... and a religious minority chased to the far ends of the continent. Way to show ignorance of both islam, and US history.

PO1 Steven Kuhn, the POTUS is a civilian by design. Altering this would violate the constitution and the intent of the founders.

Respectfully! Our founding fathers had nightmares about the military being involved in government processes........There is a protocol for impeachment through congress.

I am afraid any nightmares they had were not based on the might and prowess of the military in their time...or any for quite some time after them. Excepting the Revolution of course....

Our founding fathers ensured that the current military was no threat to the populace through govt misuse.....If you'll read the constitution carefully, the Navy is the only military arm that is established as a standing force. (and before my Leatherneck friends go berserk the Marine Corp was considered a part of the Navy, an Honored and Respected part)..........The movie "The Patriot" had a line which was a perfect example of the mind set of those times "Why should I trade a tyrant 5,000 miles away for 5,000 tyrants one mile away?" The English example of press gangs grabbing civilians off the street to be forced to fight for the crown was a powerful motivation to restrict the military power of the ruling authority lest we suffer the same fate. So, in a sense you are correct, they had little to fear from the military of the day.....but that's the way they built things....... *grin*

With respect SMSgt Finlon, in point of fact, we swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution.......I always found it odd that the oath doesn't specify The United States per se.......Just the Constitution of the United States. (Yes I know, I'm splitting a hair on this.)

This is why I am not a republican anymore. They have turned too radical for me. You have talking heads that spew hatred and claim it is just. I see that as an unlawful order. We don't have a dog in this fight. It would be hard for a person in such a position to commit treason. He was legally elected. It is not a surprise to what he is doing. He is doing the work of those who elected him. If you have crazy people in politics you need not blame the politician but the voters. I don't like his health care law but that is not for me to claim he is doing this on his own. The people who voted for him wanted him to do that. I think the military would be better suited staying out of this fight. We would be breaking many laws if a soldiers took a civilian into custody.

That's true @Sgt Jay Jones. But do understand that Crawford TX was set up as a working vacation site and it was GW's home, so the cost to the government was less than it was when Obama stayed in 5 star + hotels here and abroad. When you compare cost to the taxpayer, Obama with his much larger staff cost the taxpayer a whole lot more...

SFC James Sczymanski I don't really care to respond. I am not going to lie that I care about this. I think being honest is the best policy. I regret for even getting into this debate. I don't care really. Everyone is lying and everyone is bad. So we can now agree. Thanks.

SFC James Sczymanski At least you are not trying to tell me how a female pirate that killed many Brits for money should get a medal for her service before she betrayed her own country. I am blow away more by that than anything else. Then comparing the US to ISIS and Nazi's because we had slaves in the past. Some crazy stuff out there.
