If selected for QMP, what options do I have readily available to me?

You can appeal (very strict guidelines and unlikely).
You'll transition from active duty.
You MAY qualify to transfer/enlist into the reserve component (with approved waiver).

Half severance pay, you can also request to ETS earlier than the seven months, you can keep your education benefits. Not sure about your beliefs but I honestly think that when a door closes its only because something better is waiting for you. Many people make it without the Military so you have an advantage when seeking employment. You can always get a federal job and buy back your federal time.

To continue service you can check AR 140 -10. Options are limited to IMA or National Guard.

See AR 635-200 Chapter 19 Qualitative Management Program, for info on this matter.

The QMP options memo lays that out. That's it. Unless you have a condition that makes you unfit for duty.... and accepted into the IDES program or MEB.

If you are over 8 years but less than 17 and do not wish to appeal, get with your PCP to review your medical record for a MEB for medical retirement.

Good luck my friend, I decided against doing the appeal because I'm only at 8 and my body is already hurting. Your case is bad deal, really mad for you. Even half separation pay is not enough. Can I ask what was your initial reason for consideration?

Would you even be able to start a medical retirement board if you're selected for a QMP? Don't get me wrong, I'm not challenging, just asking if it's possible. I haven't been notified yet one way or the other, but the axe always hangs over our heads...btw, when are they supposed to notify by?

First it matters if it was qmp or qsp more options with qsp second how many years do you have in currently if you have over 18 now or will have 18 active federal service time by the time the board proceedings are published you can ask to retire on lieu of qmp if you go through the board and selected and then try for med board it requires the medical treatment facility commander to endorse your med board
