If someone flunks AD basic but does the NG only for two years, is he really considered a veteran with bennies and all?

The NG attend AD basic. You can't join the NG without attending Basic, whoever told you that is BSing you

Is there a difference in Basic for AD and NG? I must have missed that memo.

Maybe the difference is who pays if the soldier is recycled.
