If someone is in the Army Reserves and is trying to go AD, would they fall under prior service rules or a reclass with a new contract?

One signature away from my 368 approved. In the Army reserves and trying to go Active Duty. Would I fall under prior service business rules or a reclass with a new contract?

You would fall under the Prior Service rules. All of your clocks get recalculated.

Prior service business rules. I did it in 2018. Also, be advised, your date of rank will be reset to the date that you swear into active duty (I lost 4 years time in grade by going AD from reserves).

Whaaaaat?! Crazy, luckily I’ve only been an E-5 for 1 year but dang. Did your rank (assuming you went in as a E-5) cause you any problems with going to certain MOS’s? Seeing as you are considered a leader at that point.

Wow that's a huge eye opener. I'm AGR and was thinking of switching over to the active component to qualify for G2G.

SGT (Join to see) I went in as a SSG to active duty with a zeroed out date of rank. Will finally get looked at for 7 next board (feb/march)....missed this years by 2 months date of rank...mos wont matter for rank....its policy for "re-entry"
