Lose weight, to stay healthy! Age and going through cancer twice has made it difficult

My 2022 resolution to see through is to be in contact more with my children, grandchildren, siblings and other family members and to show my wife how much I love her everyday! Life is too short, always changing and too extraordinary not to share with one another!

If I could magically see a resolution through to completion - it would be to give the next generations from every race & ethnicity: the tools, wherewithal, and desire to join as one people together, paving the way for that brighter future we have always strived for.

Why? Because as hard as many have tried, we aren't there, and I don't want our children's children making our mistakes, still needing another year just to make another "new year's resolution".

I really wish that a lifetime of weight loss and weight gain and depression could be somehow controlled. Iv'e got the skinniest legs and the biggest belly I have ever seen. When I lose weight my mental state is so much better.

I would see getting $28,000 out of debt. It is only one year towards my goal to be debt free and build up a savings. It is important to me as I would like to buy a house and foster kids. If all works out I will accomplish that in 2026.

I would stick to my new years resolution and manage my mental health triggers before they get the best of me again. I would accept the fact that i have mental health diagnosis and i would empower myself to live everyday as a gift because not everyone woke up today. My glass is always half full not half empty and i hope i never forget that.

I would successfully quit smoking and not start back again because as it stands I was hospitalized twice in 2021 and once 2020 for intestinal ulcers. No blood transfusion was needed this last time mainly due to the massive infection that had built-up at the ulceration site. I had to have another emergency surgery and was admitted to the hospital the whole week prior to Christmas Day. The doctors can't definitely tell me specifically what is causing them, but they said the 3 usual reasons following a Gastric Bypass patient are 1. NSAIDS, 2. Smoking, and 3. Stress. I ensure no NSAIDS, I am stressed, but not much I can do about that, so they assume that my smoking relapse is causing me to have intestinal ulceration. So if I would have stayed quit last February 2021 instead of starting again I could have skipped the surgeries, blood transfusions, and hospitalizations of March 2021 and December 2021.

I quit 8 or 9 times, once for 6+ months, but I never really wanted to quit. Oh sure, I said the words but never really meant it. When you are 100% honest with yourself and really truly want to quit - just DO IT! You will never regret it.

I have gotten SO lazy during this COVID thing, trying to stay away from other people and only going out when I have to, like doctor and dental appointments. I've been ordering just about everything I need online. I would choose to stick with my resolution to get up at a regular time and MOVE! I need to motivate myself to exercise here at home without going to gym or hiring personal trainer and to go out for nice, long, leisurely walks. Anyone else have this problem?

I would recommend pursuing Mycology as it is both a useful skill and hobby that will help motivate you to go outside more. There are many types of delicious fungi that grow year round in different seasons and some are culinary delicacies with flavors that can range from chicken to lobster, like fruit, and some are even sweet like candy. Not all mushrooms taste like mushrooms as some think. It is a very rewarding hobby and you can network with Mycology groups locally to get started and familiarize yourself w/ local fungi that are found locally.

I'd like to stop shopping at Walmart...and stop ordering from Amazon. Our home towns are are just another part of a corporate environment where people are consumers who have a functional duty to support the growth of the corporation. But Edward Abbey called it what it is. Unchecked growth of an entity for the sake of growth is called CANCER.
