I will be diligent about my healthcare. This will require at least two more surgeries this year. Along with taking care of myself I will try to help other veterans in my area to get their benefits.

If I could magically adhere to a resolution, it would be to be nice to everyone, no matter how cranky, rude, or mean they appear. One never knows what that other person is going through. Maybe they were just told they or a loved one has cancer, or maybe they are angry over losing a friend to COVID, or maybe they grew up never knowing what it feels like to be loved! It costs us absolutely nothing to give a smile. That smile could change a person's day, or week, or life.

I find myself making the same new years resolution every year and it has been the same resolution for the last twenty years; and that it is to loose weight. I would like to get to a health 140 lbs for so many reasons; most important reason, is for my over all health. I am a type 2 diabetic; who knew being insulin resistant could create so many problems in my life. I take two pills and I am on three insulins, and I suffer from diabetic neuropathy and I am starting to have problems with my vision. Only the Lord knows the pain I am endure from being over weight and the consequences of being overweight, medical problems. I say just like many say just loose the weight and your life will be so much better all around. If it was that easy weight loss would not be a billion dollar industry; it simply is just not that cut and dry. The truth is some people couldn't do it even if their life depend on it and sometimes it does but I won't be one of those people. I started out at 280 lbs and now I am down to 226 lbs and with the Gods continued help I will achieve my goal of a health weight and eliminate all the medical conditions associated with me being over weight.

The resolution that I would choose to stick with in 2022 is eradicating or at the very least minimizing my sugar intake to very low quantities.

Doing that will get me out of the pre-diabetic zone, help me lose weight and improve my overall health.

To maintain a healthy diet to reduce my distended abdomen which affect my breathing to where I feel discomfort when in a bent position. I exercise regularly doing body weight exercises and aerobic routine. I’ve gained strength and muscular development but I’m still unable to lose my distended abdomen. I know that it’s my eating habits that causes the excess fat. So my New Year’s resolution is to avoid or reduce my intake of carbs and sugar and to continue to maintain a daily exercise program.

If I could quit smoking MAGICALLY this year you would need to place me on a disserted island with no stores, people, cars, bikes, etc: and leave me there for a long time...I'll figureout the food & water thing.

Ray you can do it! I used to say you'd have to tie me to a tree for a month to get me to quit plus I had all kinds of reasons -I like smoking-it helps me deal with stress etc. In the end i just had to make up my mind to stop period....wasn't pretty and i'm amazed that i didn't punch holes in the drywall but I did it ,so can you just keep trying.
