You are sure to get a lot of different answers on this subject. I for one have enjoyed my time as a 15P, working for Medevac was by far the best and most rewarding experience I've had though. I have spent the majority of my time running training / orderly rooms though. I have always wanted to fly and so I will be switching my MOS to a 15U, Chinook Mechanic.

Look into 160th SOAR....jump all your heart desires and see a lot of places many won't!

Are there opportunities to go on missions outside the base other than helicopter as a 15p?

As a 15P, I learned a lot of things that will help me out in the future. Reading the regulations, that makes you a better soldier. Knowledge is power. I been in the position where I told LTS and Cpts that they 're wrong due to me knowing the regulations. Best feeling ever.

Hell yeah I love being a 15P. Granted I'm not active duty so I only come in 1 weekend per month. But, when I do work I can't wait to sit down and radio in with pilots and talk with the crew chiefs, mechanics and fuelers. Get to fly once in a while. I love it.

If you are going to stay 15P. Go 160th if not get out and get something we're you have the chance to become a CWO yoi dont have to. I just went 15E i think the grass is greener on the other side. Meaning after the ARMY. good luck.

PVT (Join to see) - as for the type of lock for basic I used the combo master lock, nothing too fancy really, and as far as going ut in the field at Ft Irwin, I really didn't go out that much unless it was to set up a company TOC or some Company training event.

SSG (Join to see) I hope to get the chance to go to airborne school and maybe later try the 160 SOAR because it seems like it’s different there for 15Ps. How are the promotions for 15p?

Depending on where you get stationed, you should have the chance to go to airborne school, or air assault as well. just make sure you keep up with your pt and try to max the apft everytime you take it. request going to the schools and show interest in them. talk with your 1st line supervisor. For promotions from PVT to PFC to SPC, try to stand above your peers in apft, weapons qaul, get your ssd1 done asap, volunteer for details. Make them (leaders) see nothing but good in you and they will want to promote you.
