If you have a soldier who has no desire to finish out their Reserve contract, is there a way to begin out-processing them?

For the USAR if a Soldier gets 8 Unexcused Absences they are usually transferred to the IRR.

Guard just processes them out, at least my State does. Of course they'll try to contact you, phone calls, emails, registered mail, home visit from your Sergeant. Stack up those AWOL's though and it's an OTH.

Just a few years back in the Guard the Commander could sign an arrest warrant and they would come to your house and take you to jail. Both embarrassing and inconvenient. My brother just quit going to Guard drill and he eventually received a General Discharge in the mail.

My first thought is that you need to counsel your soldier, find out why they are unwilling to fulfill their contract and remind them of why they initially enlisted. If you are not able to save the soldier, or they are not worth saving, just remind them that if they miss enough assemblies they will automatically be transferred into the IRR.
Additionally, make sure you get help and advice from your chain of command. I am sure the farther up you go, the more they will have dealt with this situation.
