I see links on RallyPoint all the time. Brexit, politics, Red Cross posters, officer-involved shootings... it used to be that if you were a conspiracy theorist, you were the only weirdo in the room. Now, it's like having tattoos... everyone's got 'em. Why does the general public latch on to racism as the root cause of so many issues?

I would add to the previous comments that there is a predisposition in the educational system to see racism/prejudice in everything. If you do not agree with the cause de jour, you are racist, intolerant, or some other alphabet soup derogatory word.

It’s partly related to an awful history regarding race in this country and the world. Too many wish to forget but will never be allowed to minimize or discount or lie about the inhumane treatment, and selling of other humans, sold and bought same as livestock, plus the sick and demented treatment of people who were stolen and held for sale and thrust into slavery. Raped, tortured, deprived, descriminated against, murdered, and every sort of depravity too terrible and enduring to describe in brief post. And all sanctioned by ever level of government for hundreds of years. So yeah that’s a problem one doesn’t just get over or move on from…! And to ask such a question is further example of willful ignorance, stupidity, or plan lack of every kind of redeeming quality people ought to have for common decency. Grim reality is many could care less about the repercussions of history and there is a sort of PTSD by victims and the offenders that we don’t won’t to acknowledge and that my friend is a large part of why that wound can never heal. There is a lot of deep rooted resentment, fear, and all sort of awful adjective that we don’t want to acknowledge, own, or work though. Some are over blaming race but how and why could they?!?!?

The word itself has been weaponized so that where ever you throw it something blows up. It has become a trigger word for social media addicts to get their posts to go viral so they can feel as though their opinion matters. As a matter of fact, a lot of people don't even use the word correctly! Basically it comes down to the fact that people need someone or something to blame when something happens, and that is "Racism" so naturally anybody that is doing that something is a "Racist". Take me for example; I am from the Baby Boomer generation and I'm white so just for those reasons I am called a racist by people who don't even know who I am. Rant over!

I've made the following comment thru this thread, while watching a football game today a player made a outstanding run and someone shouted out...Look at that(N) run; outstanding catch and run but to some he was still just a (N).

I don't know whether to give your comment a thumbs up for your clear and cogent observation, or a thumbs down for the idiots' comment.

L have read a lot comments on here other sites for over 30 years. As I approach 90 years of life it appears to me that a large part of our population are more inclined to favor Bullshit over facts.Jesus said "The truth shall set you free" But who wants the truth when three is bullshit more more in line with what one want to believe?

Racism Not about the color one's skin It is about the power to rule over those you may consider inferior to yourself. Let me give you an example; Christianity, Abortion, slavery. Didn't the people who stormed congress want the power to rule? Consider. You may disagree with everything I have written and therefore consider yourself smarter than I. Don;t you think a real smart person like you should have the power to make a dumb ass live by your rules?

Because people see the "racist" label as the conversation ender. If you argue against it, you're racist, if you accept it, you're racist.

So, this was posted 7 years ago and it is just as valid today as it was then. I see this so often it makes me sick. Any time people do not agree with what you are saying they scream racism. Honestly it just proves that they cannot argue their opinions so they resort to one of the most offensive statements to try and shut you up.
