Today is not for us, rather for those we wish we could share the day with still. Below are the brothers and sisters I think of every year. Please share yours.

Tonight I was lucky enough to give my sweet Lucy her bottle and put her to sleep after being away for 2 weeks. As I tried to move I felt as though Thor's hammer was on my lap. I could feel her breathing and the thump of her little heart beat. I was overwhelmed with love and i just sat there until my arm and leg went numb filled with love.

As I got up and placed her in the crib I gave thanks to the fallen who have offered my daughter the right to an education and to be free to follow any religion she chooses. She will grow up in a country where she will not be denied the right to vote or required to be covered or placed in an arranged marriage. As my daughter is only 9 months old I will give thanks on her behalf and my behalf to those who have sacrificed their lives for my daughter and the millions they didn't know and I will do my best to honor them and respect their sacrifice.

Let us remember and give thanks on this Memorial Day Weekend.

I don't know anybody personally who paid the ultimate price but I will be standing a flag line with the Patriot Guard Riders.

I love this. It is a great way to show our fallen comrades. I would just like to remember my old roommate. The KIA bracelet I bear everyday has his name on it.

Pvt. John Blevins my 5th Great Grandfather served in Company K, 1st Alabama Cavalery, U.S. Volunteers. On Jan. 6, 1863 he was wounded by an accidental pistol shot by a member of his Company, William H. Hefner.

On March 10, 1865, he received a head wound from a Confederate saber during the Battle of Monroe's Crossroads at Solomon Grove, NC.
