We wondered last summer why the honor guards in Ottawa were not armed with loaded rifles. Yet again, why aren't all military armed in uniform? That would prevent this kind of outrage... or at least mitigate it...

Let us not forget that Marines in Beirut, 1983, even under Ronald Reagan, were not allowed to be armed. When push comes to shove, do you believe the politicians really care about us?

Indeed... and ROE didn't let the USS COLE shoot at the boat that blew them up either. I knew their skipper - he was a classmate of mine, and I imagine he is permanently wracked with guilt for not blowing away the ROE and that boat.

Kind of like John Wayne in "In Harm's Way". He didn't zig-zag, a sub blew him up, he got fired by the Admiral. The Admiral told him that in his case, he failed to follow SOP, which would likely change to reflect his tactics in six months...

In the 60's/70's we stood shipboard watches in foreign ports with a .45 pistol with no ammo and no clip --- obviously a serious deterrent. Some things never change.

My heart and prayers go out to our fallen comrades and thier families. It is time to take these people down. The battle is not over seas anymore, it is now here at home. We need to make sure our installations and recruiting stations have the needed equipment to keep themselves safe from these kinds of attacks. I believe this is only the beginning and I for one am not leaving my home without my firearm. May God be with all our brothers and sisters in uniform HERE and abroad.

It is a sad day in America to see such a tragedy. RIP fellow brothers in arms. Even though I am Army, I still feel the loss. None of us are safe, so protect yourselves and your loved ones as you would protect you fellow troops.

God Bless and comfort the family and friends of these Marines! I am beyond angry that our own government will not do a thing about this!
