In your opinion, what is the most common violation of uniform regulations, and are you guilty of it from time to time?

The one I see the most is unauthorized boots. People still wear the OG Nike Free SFB even though they’ve been unauthorized for upwards of 5-6 years now. Also ID Tags with social security numbers instead of DODID.

Top 3 in my unit were,
A. long hair
B. facial hair
C. hands in pockets.
I was a food service specialist and the 3 mess Sergeants aka E-6 were death on anyone violating A. and B.
Since work gloves melt when handling hot items and are not authorized when cooking or handling food items. We violated the hell out of C.

How about ribbon rack upside down. So worried about getting the distances right but forgot the ribbons. I've seen that once or twice.

Incorrect nametapes; wrongfont, size and no space between U.S. and Army. I would inform my company and give them the opportunitiy to fix it on their next purchase of ACUs.
Cuffing sleeves; field or deployed environment only - not the PX; Commanders cannot ‘add to’ the field or deployed environment - I will correct.
The biggest violators, Ive witnesses from all...

The biggest violation I see is the haircut issue. I've even seen NCOs push the envelope on haircuts. I think Soldiers try desperately trying to look like their civilain counterparts. I had to tell a Soldier pick a side...either your in the Army or you're not! You cant have your cake and eat it too!

General Officers have a knack for wearing their berets with the blue patch centered on their forehead instead of centered over their left eye IAW AR 670-1. And before you say that General Officers prescribe their own uniform, they're never out of uniform, blah blah blah, etc., take a look at the table of contents page for 670-1. The only person exempted from the regulation is the Army Chief of Staff.
