Which AR 670-1 violations do you overlook? Do you make on the spot corrections? Who are the biggest violators?

I was walking across a field in front of the post hqs at Graf in Germany. It was a blizzard, I was there for field training. We were crossing the open field wearing field gear parkas. Some idiot opened a window on third floor and shouted for us to remove our hands from the parka pockets. What drives idiots to worry about such stupid things? Did he think it was a learning event. The hard part is if any soldier got frost bite the squad leaders would suffer for letting it happen. Had a 1 Sgt at planet Ord, crazy light fighters, make me remove my wet weather jacket during a downpour because it was in his mind field gear and we were in garrison. Makes you wonder what makes them tick.

Headgear IE Ranger Roll bullshit. Or the best of all the Beret! Not shaped or shaved right. Not worn right.

After 28 years in the army, I can honestly say without a doubt that I was the biggest violator of having my hands 8n my pockets.

One of my biggest pet peeves is hairstyles. That can be the foot of hair slicked back on a mechanic or Rangers head or the crazy pattern of braids on the female clerk. You’d make a correction and they get mad, run it up the chain to their 1SG who can’t even wear their headgear (another one I dislike)correctly and you get chewed out. People can’t wear berets correctly not can they wear Patrol caps correctly. They look like either John Wayne or Gomer Pyle.

The one I see besides hands in pockets is people when in their neighborhood walking without a jacket or cover on. Thinking is not near a base so its ok.

One I see all the time which I don’t think is specifically mentioned is “two tone uniforms” when a troop wears a new top and older faded bottoms drives me nuts.

I find hands in pockets and female hair and nails. Yes, I do on the spot connections. Even to myself.

I see all ranks put their hands in their pockets, from E1 to even officers, I have even seen my XO walk and talk on his cell phone , higher enlisted with their back pockets undone , i dont say anything though .

When I first ETSed from service, cell phones only existed in rich men's cars. When I mob'd through Ft. Bragg years later as a deploying Reservist, I was totally baffled when some junior sergeant yelled at me for walking along, talking to my wife on the phone. My driver tried his hardest (and failed) to not laugh at the retread staff sergeant who was his dad's age.

One uniform reg I pushed all the time was wearing a dense wool vest under BDUs in the field. Didn't show; didn't matter. As for wearing a multi-tool on my belt, that oughtta be a uniform requirement. Not only did I never get called on it, I didn't even know it was a gig until I read through this thread. =:D
