Which AR 670-1 violations do you overlook? Do you make on the spot corrections? Who are the biggest violators?

A lot of people are doing the hands in pockets, but I had to correct people on haircuts and shaves almost on the daily.

I do not overlook any of the regulations, now. I can spot an irregularity a mile away. The way I made spot on corrections was by pointing it out and having them read the regulation in black and white. I find we all tend to tweak the rules on occasion but, females do it more than males. The hair is tricky and yes it sometimes violates the rules.

In Combat, you are in the field therefore is completely different from garrison. There are rules the one must always follow AR 670-1 is your answer !!

It pisses me off the degree at which NCOs let too much slide. One thing down range, but garrison Leadership has really dropped off in the last few decades. Get it. Hard when deployed all the time, etc. But simple "fix this or that" that is obvious to E4 mafia, and NCOs (junior and senior alike) cash it in. I could have choked some of my daughter's drill sergeants. They were babies. Not like the senior E6s and E7s like when I went (I am 42yo for ref). Garrison Leadership matters in developing discipline and esprit de corps.

I digress.

I attended a retirement ceremony recently. I was appalled at the number of uniforms that were at least a size to small for the member wearing it. The pockets on the trousers were flared out like a cobra's hood instead of laying flat, looking smart. Even something as simple as a ribbon rack was a problem. I just had to shake my head seeing that, and from very senior types. Oh my.

Hands in pockets and needing a haircut. As a 1SG, my pet peeve was worn down heel on boots and low quarter shoes.

The most common violators are us old timers who were out before most of these regulations were even written. Those of us that were 03s in Vietnam, not clerk typist in this century.

Wearing the combat uniforms at the mall or shopping! Unless the regs have changed, it was not allowed when I was still in.
