Hello all. My son is currently at the FTU at Benning. He told me that his run time was not to standard.

Do new recruits now get a PT assessment at Reception?

How often are recruits at FTU given the chance to re-test?

What is their corrective PT regimen like?

Thanks in advance for any info.

As far back as 1992, when I first came through 30th AG, they gave us a fitness test. Those who didn't pass went to the FTU. I don't know if the FTU is on Sand Hill or not, but some of the guys inprocessing had to go to it. I know little about their regimen other than it includes swimming. I don't know how often re-tests are done or how many chances they get. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. Since I posted my question, my son has passed his assessment, has classed-up, and is now in White Phase of OSUT.

I too went through Fort Benning for BCT, and while at 30th AG, we did not have any assessments. In fact, we were explicitly told to NOT do any type of PT, as they didn't want anyone getting broken before shipping to our training platoons.
