Interesting take on Chattanooga. If this was ISIS inspired, aren't Military facilities targets of war, not terrorism?

That's a good way of looking at it. But I think the difference between terrorism and war has been blurred since 9/11/01!

Fair question. If terrorism is any attack against any target, isn't the word rather meaningless? I'm not sure HOW to classify this, but I do find it interesting that IF this is the first actual Daesh attack on US soil, it was a military target. A soft one, yes, but military nonetheless.

Just when you think we are kind of safe, something like this happens. Military installations and recruiting stations will go extra security alert for a little while and then we will become complacent again until the next attack.

Clearly one of the best questions I have seen on RallyPoint to date. My guess is that if you are the friends and family members of the Marines who were killed it does not matter. I think if the perpetrator of the attack were to have lived and gone to trial the idea of this being an act of war would be an interesting defense.

Thanks for the response. I thought that it was a great question to ask the RP community.
