The Iowa National Guard is currently in their deployment cycle. But there is no deployment for us. Is this a result of the 'Wars' winding down? Or is active Army getting all the missions?

I was told in my course by an O-6 that the units that are currently overseas or the scheduled ones close to deploying were the last ones for Afghanistan. I would say this is the end for deploying units unless something drastic happens. I may be wrong but honestly, I don't see anyone else deploying now unless you were already trained up and schedule to close the FOBs to the ANA.

There are still deployments going on. Few states are getting missions. It depends on your state and your TAGs willingness to deploy. I am going to Jordan soon and our sister battalion is picking up a Kosovo deployment. They are out there but they are few and far between.

How do you volunteer for these deployments? I've been on Mobcop and ToD and nothing shows up?

You can't. States will only pull from within themselves. When there is a need for a soldier they will pull from another unit. When we deployed the whole BCT we did pull from other states but full BCTs from the guard are not longer deploying. You are seeing battalions and smaller smaller size elements deploy. Even then, within my state people are trying to get on this tour but are being denied.

Your best chance is to catch one from your own state.
