Hello,

Long story short I am in a extremely over strength MOS, and I am considering switching over to 35G. I am a 92F (fueler) and I am looking to find a new career. Can someone please tell me the pros and cons of this job? How long is the AIT, what are the promotion rates for SSG, what do you do on a daily basis, and why do I need to be Airborne? Do I jump out of planes to get to my location? Thanks everyone.

AIT is 22 weeks. This description on the Army's recruiting site doesn't say anything about Airborne being a requirement...

SSG (Join to see) SGT (Join to see) When I went through the school house, I was there from January, and graduated June 30th, so I'm not saying that the information about the course being 22 weeks is wrong, but unless they have recently changed it was most definitely a 6 month course. I don't know a lot of 35G's who are Airborne qualified, again who aren't in Group, or with an Airborne unit.

SGT (Join to see), I am a 35G, the job itself isn't that bad, I like it, it just depends on where you are, and what type of unit you are in. The AIT itself is 6 months long, you do not need to be Airborne for this MOS, unless you want to go to Group. Promotion to SSG isn't that bad, normally our points from SGT to SSG are pretty low. I am currently working in the G2 up here at Camp Red Cloud, and like it, my last unit I did FMV, there are some units where you could be stuck in the S2. I can't tell you what happens on a daily basis, due to the forum that we are speaking on, I will tell you that you will more than likely work in a SCIF though. If you have any other questions, please let me know. I hope I answered the majority of the questions that you do have.
