So, I have a preliminary release from the ARNG because I was looking for jobs on Tour of Duty. Now, I want to go Active Duty, and I was wondering since I already have that preliminary release will it help me in getting a conditional release, or is it the same thing and should I tell my unit that I already have a release?

Sounds like your immediate CoC is blessing off on you popping smoke.....but it's not the same as the conditional. You still have to wait for that to work its way up the chain and back down. Periodically, check in with your CoC to see if they have a status update. Patience, young Padawan.

No. Prelim releases are typically for release to go on a Tour Of Duty outside your actual unit. A conditional release is to release you from your current service component so you may join another. At least that's my understanding.

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
