Is a Superior Rating appropriate on my 1059 from ALC?

In WLC I received superior on all abillities we were evaluated on, no commandants or honor grad. I think it shows you knew what you were doing but maybe you got edged out on test performance by a percentage or two or APFT wasn't high enough. In SLC I made distinguish honor grad, but out of the 4 abilities tested on I received 3 superiors. On the 1059s of my battles a lot of them only had one or two superiors.

SFC Brunson,
Well alc for me was 2 months.
I had a gpa of 96.77 and three others has a higher gpa but I don't mind that I didn't get any honors just glad it's over with and I did the best I fully could in two month

How many were in you class btw? I had a 94% in ALC but didn't make commandants list. In SLC I had a 100% to make DHG, and I knew a lot of people in my class above 96% that didn't make any lists. Just keep in mind a lot of your peers didn't get those superiors like you did.

SGT Bump don't worry too much about not making honors. I mean it's very impressive if you do but as long as you did good than that's ok. Like you I had a small ALC class and our honors group was 3 people; DHG, HG and CL. During the EOC counseling we asked the SGL and he told us it was a close call for the rest who didn't make it. It's really good that you revived superior marks; that shows that you were exceptional in those areas. So you see that even though you didn't make honors your 1059 still paints a picture of how well your performance was during the course.

SFC Kess,
Your right, that's all I need. Everything should fall in place.
Thanks again

At the beginning of ALC, your SGL should have you read your ISAP (individual student assessment plan) telling you what areas of your 1059 (leadership, research ability, contribution to group work, and written and oral communication) you will be evaluated in. They don't have to do all, just leadership and research ability are required.

Superior bullets should be based on your ISAP for that NCOA. The can receive superior bullets and not be placed on any of the honor lists. I have done that on occasion. Because you may meet the elements it is up to your SGL/SSGL and 1SG. ALC is a leadership evaluated school. If you do not represent that narrative then you may not make the honors list.

Thanks Sfc.
We had only 12 people and I had the 4th highest gpa so I didn't get it. Which is no worries. I tried hard and I learned a lot. That to me is suffice.

That is the norm when you don't make honors or the commandant list. You automatically receive a superior rating unless you have misconduct or fail out of ALC.

I received superior in all categories but group work, which I received a sat in. I wasn't there for commodants list or any of that other stuff. Just there to learn and get that 1059. I was happy with just that. You should be too.

Hahah, well read the comment Ssg. It does not say anything about happiness or sad. I was curious on how I got all superiors.

You can very well be superior in multiple categories but still not graduate top 20%.

Not saying this won't help a soldier. Not worried about honors. Wonder why in alc you get all superiors I would think that most likely I woulda received one satisfactory
