While the situation as a whole is disgusting you do need to look at the positive aspects in the vicinity:

maybe i'm not very sympathetic to the racial tension thing since i'm only a white man who lives near downtown atlanta and have to go there quite often to work, and growing up in El Paso TX, where you can be going out to a job site and get life threats just because you are white, so what do i know about the subject.

It is "Ferguson" all over again. Rioting and looting are not the answer. We, as the American society, didn't learn the first time. Hopefully the second time of not learning will end the trend.

you got to admit, it was justifiably funny when they showed that mother kicking her sons butt all of the way home on national tv. i'm usually not a fan of a parent going that far, but in this case, go get him mom.

It is the equivalent of throwing a tantrum. If you have good parents, it accomplishes nothing. The worst I have heard so far during the Baltimore situation is, "I am going to get what is mine." Really? Because one of the citizens was killed by the police, you are going to steal Doritos and Arizona Iced Tea from a local shop owner?
Your logic is invalid.

Yes....I am just going to leave this right there. What I am leaving is a question...a very simple question...for all the protesters. I understand that you are pissed about what happened after he got arrested....I am pissed that he was ONCE AGAIN, NOT FOR THE FIRST TIME, being arrested for something that he knew was against the law. My question is what part of your conduct is against the law do people not understand?

The guy had a criminal sheet a mile long. Mostly narcotics trafficking. And mostly repeat offenses. Not saying that this in and of itself deserved death...but there was a reason police were talking to him in the first place.
Then there is the bit about he had spinal surgery just a week prior. Some are now saying that is bogus info. If he did...well I wouldn't be running around after any surgeries until I was fully healed...and that doesn't happen in 6-8 days. If that part is false, then we can only guess where that came from.
Interesting to me is that there was NO MENTION of the skin color of the particular police on the scene before riots broke out anyway. But there are always people trying to make things an issue of color, even when it is not.
Most of the rioters could care less and don't even know why others are rioting, its just an excuse to go steal more goodies from local businesses beyond what those government cheese checks already cover for them. Don't take any lessons from Ferguson by thinking about where you can do your shopping next week or anything...
The safest place in Baltimore would be a 3-block radius around the Social Security building who pumps out those cheese checks. Nope no fire there. People standing in front of that building are as safe as Hindu Cows.
The other guy riding in the same police van says Freddy Gray suffered a puncture to the back of the neck from a bolt that was part of the van itself. Self-Inflicted? Rather die than face prison? Was it even a new wound, or the unhealed skin from the surgery that made it a bit easier for said bolt to stab deeper?
I found this interesting: WOAH Its gone already. Last night on Facebook was a video where an older black man with a PhD was on a rant...he was basically saying that pretty soon if these black kids keep this crap up, white people are going to riot, and that it would make the old South Central LA riots (re: Rodney King) look like nothing. Apparently Facebook has taken it down already. And you think Media isn't controlled eh?

CNN Reporter Brooke Baldwin added fuel to the fire (pardon the pun) with her ill-chosen words, too.

Talk about piling on! What the cops did was bad enough. The rioting worse, and the mayor's handling of the situation worse still. One would think a CNN reporter would be smart enough to know what s/he says can further inflame the situation and...voila!

Not just Baltimore society this just happen in St Louis also and it has happened in severl places. What is wrong with people we have a justice system for a reason. If law enforcement is using to much force take to the courts and let them decide. Why ruin other innocent peoples lives for one mishap.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but riots in America aren't new. It's just the way the MEDIA is acknowledging it and I know how these young people feel and I don't agree with the rioting and looting but why are people "disgusted" with it now? There were riots when Ohio State won the 2015 NCAA Championship and those kids were just a bunch of kids starting trouble, they weren't "thugs" or "criminals". But I don't like how people say its JUST wrong to riot when it predominately black people doing it but when its the other way around they're just kids acting a fool. I'll leave some examples:
2015 Ohio State Wins Championship
2014 San Francisco Giants win the World Series
2011 Vancouver Canucks lose the Stanley Cup
1999 Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl
1992 Rodney King riots/LA riots - King was tasered, kicked in the head, beaten with side-handled batons, then tackled and cuffed. The video showed that he was crawling on the ground during the beating and that the police made no attempt to cuff him.
2015 Baltimore Riots - Freddie Gray was taken into custody by the Baltimore Police Department for possession of a switchblade, which was illegal under Baltimorean law at the time. While being transported, Gray fell into a coma and was taken to a trauma center. Gray died on April 19, 2015. His death was ascribed to injuries to his spinal cord. Eyewitness accounts suggested that the officers involved had partaken in unnecessary use of force against Gray while arresting him.
So you can be disgusted by the rioting and looters but please don't make it seem like this is new. I don't like rioting or looting but I do think that rioting over police brutality is a better reason than rioting over sports.
And yes, this is about race as much as nobody wants to admit it, it is.

you're absolutely right, protesting is a good thing as long as they keep the violence out of it, my main problem is that they are destroying their own neighborhoods. that's what has me disgusted. and yes it isn't the firs and i'm sure it won't be the last.

Yes I agree, destroying the city is definitely not okay at all. I understand the anger built up but that is not the way to go about it.

Yes Sir, I live, go to school, and work in Baltimore. I am totally disgusted at the fact that these thugs are perpetuating the stereotypes and racism we are trying to avoid. They are destroying the very city they live in, and causing loss of employment, also a factor they complain about.

Thank you! I am extremely disheartened by the destruction of the mom and pop businesses. They have been here for 30-40 years and some of them are too old to start over, but some will try.
