A friends daughter came across these in an antique shop. Question is, were once a uniform item, or just a souvenir?

Is that the old utility cap device? The base looks a bit thick but back in the day a common back pin device would frump forward. A broad base would keep it facing forward.

Thanks. Do you have any idea from what era?

No, just looking at potential function. It'd be good to know if the device has a removable pin connection for poking through fabric. I do like the idea of collar stiffeners too. Don't know if there'd be a left vs. right side version.

Uniform Item - I think they were collar-stiffeners for the old high collars

GySgt Charles O'Connell - Based on the 'Bronze' finish I would say 1900 to 1930s. Best guess. I'm never seen these particular ones before but I have a pair of 1920s US Cavalry spurs of the same material. I 'kinda' rmember some manufactory in New England did the military contracts of uniform articles in that era.
