I'm currently PCSing from Fort Bliss, to Fort Benning. My orders do not specify whether early reporting is authorized or not. Will I be able to report to the post a day prior to my report date?

In 1980 I drove down to Fort Benning and arrived a little early CPL (Join to see). When I reported early I went about getting a place to stay, etc.
I would call Fort Benning switchboard operator and ask for help. Check out the Fort Benning Newcomers page.

I'd suggest contact your unit sponsor. You should have one, it's a program our CG is really pushy for post. What unit you moving to?

I reported here early to my unit and didn't face any issues with base inprocessing or unit, but I wouldn't suggest just doing it blindly.

I was never contacted by a unit level or even post level sponsor, so I've been relatively clueless as to what I should expect when I report. My orders don't specify a clear unit that I'm going to. USAIS AG REPL DET ENL is what my orders state I'll be assigned to.

CPL (Join to see) It should say on your orders if early reporting is authorized.

This is absolutely correct. You should always read your orders when you receive them and ask questions if you don't understand something on the orders.

CPL (Join to see) you should be good to go. Your travel time, (authorized days) should cover you.

The last time I reported to Fort Benning, I reported early than the date on my orders. The SDNCO signed me in, and then assisted me into In-processing housing, until my official first day. This also gave me adequate time to get my bearings on where everything is on post, as Fort Benning is very spread out

When is your actual report date? If it's during the Christmas Holidays do you have leave days available? To answer the original question it want hurt if you reported early, they will give you instructions once you get to the in processing center.

It's not during the holiday's, it's within the next few days. I do have leave saved up for Christmas, I'm just curious whether they'll be prepared to assign me to barracks if I report early, or if I need to make other arrangements.

Your orders will descrive if authorized. At the same time, if not stating "Not Authorized" you can request with a 4187.

Depending on report date, I'd suggest flying into Atlanta then coming this way, (Columbus airport is expensive as f$ck) when reporting you'll need to head over to Building 4 on main post, (if showing up on weekend or after hours) do you know what unit? That way maybe I can direct or give you a point of contact, I'll be here till dec 30th if you need anything.

We would need to see the orders. You could contact the orders authority to find out for sure.

Reporting early is never a problem....just means you're saving leave time for something else....do make sure you to use your travel days and stay within the daily travel limitations is applicable....also should be a on your orders if early reporting is or is not authorized. .....hell if it's not just show up get a hotel room and enjoy some time off in your new town.
