Is Fayetteville’s mass transit system adequate for the size of the city, or does it need to be more viable?

I think Fayetteville is large enough that it should have a better more robust mass transportation system. I have done some research and what I have found is that the mass transit system was established in 1976 and boasts a fleet size with 23 buses, providing services to over 5,000 passengers daily, with only 12 routes. In a city with over 200,000 people this doesn’t seem adequate to me, I for one would like to see the system expand to include a larger coverage area other than what is currently in place. As soldiers of Fort Bragg, if there were a better system in place, would you use it to save on fuel prices? What about your married Private’s spouse without a driver’s license? A person could find it difficult living in Fayetteville, due to the fact that everything is so far away, and with out transportation it’s just a little more difficult. The military has put programs in place to combat this on post, like the shuttle buses you see moving soldiers from the barracks to the shopping areas. What about in the civilian sector, why can’t some of my tax dollars go towards something like this? Most DUIs happen because soldiers go out drinking and do not have a plan, I think if there were a better mass transit system, soldiers wouldn’t be as tempted to drive home and would definitely take advantage of it. Anything that can help to lower the DUI rates on Fort Bragg seems like something worth looking into.
