I heard a news report on television and also on the radio morning saying/hinting that America and Iran are now working together in the fight against ISIS. I want to open up a few questions, first have others heard this? Second, is this a silver lining to the current conflict or an additional danger? Finally, what would it look like for America and Iran to work together to destroy ISIS? Any insight is appreciated, still trying to understand all the different motives at play in Iraq and Syria today.

Iran is definitely not an ally. With that said, it wasn't always that way, and it doesn't have to be the way it is. But with that said, neither side really shows hard proof they are stepping up to the plate. Iran is a country that is truly ruled for the benefit of the elites their and their kids. Any other attempt to understand them without keeping this in mind is missing the point. Would Iran as a country in the future be an ally? Perhaps, but not with the sort of ilk that are running the place now. Conversely, ever since the hostage situation, Iran has ceased to be seen as a respectable partner in anything in the US media. Over 30 years of this, most Americans today just see the place as another backward Middle East country.

1LT (Join to see) If it happens, it is just one of those "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" very short alliances. As long as Israel survives, Iran will always ally themselves with nations that seek their total annihilation first and foremost.
