Is Islam a religion or more of a political engine for world domination?

I am restating a question in a different form from another servicemember. Here is my response, but I would like to hear yours. This is NOT an attack on Islam, but a search for the truth so we can better understand what we are dealing with.
My response: Religion is defined as: re·li·gion noun \ri-ˈli-jən\
: the belief in God or in a group of gods
: an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules used to worship God or a group of gods
: an interest, a belief, or an activity that is very important to a person or group
That being said, I would think that many Muslims believe only in the peaceful parts of their religion. A religion should be used to worship a Higher Power (we Christians call Him God) without harm to others. I believe another important part of true worship is that it is of our own free will. Islam is not an option and Muslims who try and convert to other religions are threatened with death. Islam is more of a political engine for world domination than a religion. I develop my personal relationship with God by becoming more Christ-like with each passing day. If I share the Gospel with you, you are free to accept or reject it, and we can still remain friends. In the case of Islam, you are an enemy of all Islam if you do not accept the religion. The Quran calls for ALL Muslims to wage jihad on non-Muslims. The reward for a Christian is everlasting life with God. The rewards for Muslims are more material in nature. With all of this being said, it is my firm belief that Islam is more of a political engine than a religion. Their prophet received more revelations concerning his own desires than any other recorded prophet, telling me that it is not of God.

If muslims say they are peaceful, how come there has not been more muslims to come together, or unite and do peaceful protests with other faiths within American Cities.? There have been several opportunities, but no action has been taken on their part. Talk is cheap these days. Action speaks, walk the walk to talk the talk.

The question is multiple parts and can be very complex which is why we all struggle with it. But before we discuss Islam let's discuss Christianity and Governments. In the early stages of Christianity it was a Religion and desperately wanted to be tied to human lives and value not governments. However, it was hijacked by European Kings and Queens and made an integral part of their rule. Thus a small group of Christians wanted to focus on the Religion and not government and thus was born the greatest nation in the United States.
Much can be stated about Islam. Islam, Jews, and Christianity all stem from the worship of God (Allah). God started Israel (Jews) through Abraham. Abraham had a son (Ismael) by his wife's made servant. When he was 14 he and his mother were sent out of Abrahams camp. Ismael was a great hunter and warrior. As he was banished from Abraham's camp, God sent an angel to Ismael's mother and promised that he would we great and his descendants would count in the many.
So how did land and religion start. Abraham and the Jews were promised a land of milk and honey - we know it as Israel. The Islam nation, which has always had its split from the Jews, as a part of history and understanding; also want their own land of milk and honey.
Christianity is the one religion where Jesus told us we are the temple and we are the promised land. Therefore we seek on the face of Jesus - not property.
If all of this was better understood - none of this would really be a shock to anyone or a political nightmare.
All three are religions and the worship of the same God.
Two of them desire land as part of their covenant and promise from God.
Anxious to hear the slam back I get from this.

PO1 Kuhn, if you say the Quran calls for muslims to wage jihad on all non muslims then you haven't actually read the Quran or talked to anyone who has because your simply wrong, you are not even using the word Jihad correctly. You really should go and actually you know get correct knowledge before talking about something.

By every definition Islam is a religion. There are extremists in every religion, some are just more visible in the media these days, but even if the religion were truly inherently violent it would still be a religion. You could also argue that all evangelical religions are political engines for domination, that doesn't make them not religions.

@SGT Tyler G. sorry but again I could not get your name to pull up in the drop down listr. Religions are defined by their faith system and do not necessarily include a system to conquer by force other religions. They are concerned with sharing their beliefs but typically not through violent means. Because Islam calls on all Muslims to wage war on all non-Muslims until the whole world follows or is subject to Islam it is more interested in taking over the whole world than they are getting close to their higher power. And the Quran clearly states that all non-Muslims must be killed or made to pay the slave tax. Tell me of another religion that has this end goal in mind by force.

it's a religion, its always been a religion, its not the first nor will it be the last religion to be militant in the name of some god.

LCpl Mark Lefler I would say it is the most militant, most violent "religion" on the face of the earth responsible for more deaths, murders, butchering, slavery and other atrocities than any other dictator or other religion that has ever existed!!!

Then you would be wrong... you seem to be forgetting the inquisitions, the crusades, the slaughtering of pagan priests by charlemagne, christianity has slaughter hundreds of thousands over the century, the difference is Islam is doing it now and not 400 yrs ago. Even outside of religion, want to talk about slaughter, the English killed 4k to 10k french knights at agincourt. I have to wonder how many muslims rommell killed rolling through the middle east. Oh forgot about the 1800s where the southern episcopal Methodists and the baptists tried to use the bible to justify slavery and how they used phenology to say blacks weren't the same kind of human and thus didnt have souls and that womens brains were smaller then men thus they didnt have the skills to reason. the burning of joan of arc at the stake over religion, the forced christianization of american Indian tribes, lets not forget Christopher Columbus and how he enslaved the natives of central america because they weren't civilized in the name of religion, seriously, I could go on and on.

LCpl Mark Lefler Who knows which of us is wrong? Neither of us where there when it occurred. Christianity was based on the death of the Son of God for all of mankind's sins and does not promote violence, but love. After the Crusades (which were a reaction to the rapid and violent expansion of Islam into Europe) the Pope apologized because Christians were not following the teachings of their Holy Book (to love one's enemies and pray for those who persecute you). Islam has a foundation of robbing caravans and enslaving the caravan drivers and anyone they were found with. After allying himself with a couple of the strongest tribes, the Prophet went and massacred a city that had surrendered and vowed to convert to Islam and raped the women in the blood of their dead husbands in front of the children. The invasion into Spain was because some horny Caliphate wanted 3000 blond haired blue eyed virgins. Islam has never apologized for their atrocities and they ARE following the Quran which calls for death or enslavement of all non-Muslims until the whole world is Muslim. Even though they are one of the newest religions compared to Judaism and Christianity they claim to be the oldest and claim that the Christian's and Jew's have perverted God's Holy Word (which should be impossible as it is of God. Jesus was born of a virgin and even the Muslims believe this. Their prophet had a regular set of parents. Jesus performed miracles, and the prophet did not. Islam is responsible for over 90% of the world's terrorism (check out the numbers) and their Quran calls for all Muslims to wage jihad against the unbeliever, lie to gain the upper hand with the unbeliever, and that the highest reward that can be received is when one dies in jihad or holy war. Also, they have never apologized for their actions. America has come to the aid of Muslims in several areas of the world because of our belief in freedom of religion. Islam shares no such belief in freedom of religion: it is pretty much Islam or death. You do not see a bunch of Christians beheading Muslims for not converting to Christianity. Jesus said that a tree would be known by its fruits, and the fruit of Islam is rotten fruit loops.

Islam is as religious doctrine, like christianity, Judism, hinduism. Like most religious doctrines, it gets perverted by the power hungry.

Really, Are there still people that believe that all Muslums are evil. Here is the deal I am a Christian, have been since a child. I am assuming that most individials that have these types of thoughts are Christian as well. I understand all the bad things you can find out there about Islam, and the Koran. You can find words like Jihad and infedel. There are stories in the Koran that one might find very frightening if read without the 100 years of context. Much like this other book, called the bible. The god of the bible called on the Jews to invade Jeruseleum and kill every single living thing there. Leave nothing alive and take the land among others. I do not know many Muslums if any. But, what I am sure of is that of the millions of folks that believe in Islam they have some great people, some that are charitable, some that are over the top, some that are crooked, some that are bad and some that are down right evil. You know what sounds alot like Christianity and every other belief system in the world.

We have the Old Testament where the Law was given to us and the New Testament where God's love was showed to the entire world including Gentiles. God ordered people to be killed because they worshipped other gods (you can use the small g as a Christian when referring to false gods but not the One True God) and He did not want this infection creeping into His chosen people. With regards to the 10 Commandments compare them in their context to what you obviously know about Islam and the Quran having studied both so much. If you allow the Holy Spirit to truly lead you I believe that you will find that the God Who inspired the Old and New Testaments is not the same god who inspired the Quran. Muslims kill other Muslims as well as infidels. Muslims are responsible for more slavery, murder and rape than all other warlords on the planet combined. Anyway, in every religion, man can ruin what God has made perfect. I believe that there are Muslims out there who are horrified by the atrocities being committed by radical Islam. However, the Quran instructs all Muslims to wage Jihad until Islam is the only religion on the planet. Also, our version of heaven is worshipping our God, while their version is 72 virgins, the strength of 100 men so they can service them at their whim, and rivers of honey....all material things and nothing mentioned that appeals to the women. Women have no souls; hell is filled with women; it takes two or more women to equal the testimony of one man.....! All I know is that Jesus treated women with respect and they represented a large part of their ministry. So, while I do not think that all Muslims are evil, I do believe that Islam is not of God and that Muslims are encouraged still in modern times to commit atrocities that we should have spiritually grown beyond. If I saw more Muslims fighting for the cause of humanity and not only their version of Islam (as there are three or more sects) I would have much more faith in our ability to work together; but as long as they are taught from their youth to hate infidels (us) and taught throughout their lives to kill people of the Book, lie to infidels to further their cause (which makes me question their oath of citizenship to the United States), and be taught that those who die in fighting physical jihad and killing people are admitted directly to paradise then I will have a much harder time giving complete trust to anything they present on surface level. Their own prophet did not know what his fate was, and had satanic verses and believed at first that he was possessed by the devil. They treat women with disdain, yet his first wife was the first Muslim and the one to proclaim him a prophet. They say we have perverted God's Word. How can man change God's Word, especially when we have writings a thousand years older than their Quran to compare them to? Also, Islam or death goes against the freedom of choice that God gave us from the time in the garden of Eden when we made the wrong choice. What we need to work for is the opportunity to minister to them and let them know that they have a God just waiting for them to accept Him and His Love. Unfortunately this means them being at fear of losing their family, friends and lives!

and SFC (Join to see) the Quran and the aHadiths show the Muslim how to live like Muhammad and the newer verses (kill the infidel) take precedence over the older verses that say to try and make peace. With Islam, the religion of peace, peace will only come when the entire world is under their boot. That does not mean I do not believe that there are not peaceful Muslims out there who are good people as I am blessed to have some as friends. They denounce the violence and the atrocities committed in the name of their religion. However, most Muslims (even when liberated) vote for the more radical party members if they are even given the opportunity to vote. And look at how the women are treated in the Quran. Jesus treated women with respect as God's creation. The senior council on Islam recently decided that women were not part of God's creation and were not part of Sharia. Again, Jesus said you would know a tree by its fruits.

Trust me I do not in any part support the beliefs of islam. My personal opinion from what I have studied, which I admit is limited, seems to almost be an antagonist to Christianity. Many of the same stories yet an almost across the board flipped perspective of the Meanings of them. That being said I love that in America if you god is the purple people eater, thats ok. I choose to judge an individual by their deeds than the actions of some who believe the same religion as them.

One has to remember when the United State was created, the separation of Church and State was novel concept. In many places it still is, yet not entirely, since lot of the 10 Commandants can be found in our laws. Then lot of laws that were based on teaching in Bible were also translated over too.
Muslim is a Religion for my vote. Like I said in many parts of the world, lot of the moral and ethical things based in law filter in from religion to begin with naturally.
Um...In parts of Iraq, in former Palistine, and other Middle Eastern countries, for centuries Muslim, Jews, and Christian have lived together for years. Yes all religions start out threatening those who don't believe with death. Largely due out of fear of persecution.

PV2 Abbott Shaull , coule you please show me where Christians have threatened anyone with death for not following their belief or converting to Christianity (witch trials aside, as like I have mentioned in other posts they and the crusades were not following the teaching of the Bible and are not continued to this day as are the atrocities committed in the name of Islam)? I would like to hear your examples.

When the Christians fought to reclaim parts of Spain and Portugal as well the Balkans that had been conquered by the Muslims in the Middle Ages, they were at the time what we would call Roman Catholic, and they did force in some areas by the sword conversion to Christianity. It was one many issues that several members of the Church had problems with including couple Bishops who broke away from the Rome and started the Protestant movement of Christianity. Even though all Protestants and as well as the Roman Catholic use the same core Holy Bible. As well as the Orthodox Greeks and Orthodox Russia variant of the church to, with other included. Yes in the history there has been force conversion by corrupt follower of Christ. So we can't set back act like we religion aren't guilty of it. To continue to act like the entire religion is at fault, and not the few people who spewing the hate, is just folly and foolish. As a christian, is causing you to be judgemental and blinded to the fact that they want to react this way. To so they can show that we are the as evil as they claim. Sometimes as Christians we forget that things happen for a reason, yes it tragic that people are dying. It more tragic that we are sitting here acting like we don't even know it is happening.
