There was a double-body cam video released of a police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call. While he was on the scene, he picked a fight with a young man (looked to be around 18-19) because the kid would not stop running his mouth. Is it acceptable to conduct yourself this way while on the job as a law enforcement official?

EDIT: I do understand the desire to want to shut this kid down, and I completely disagree with the blatant disrespect given to a man who was only doing his job. But what do you think of this, RallyPoint?

In a word, never. The one thing the police seem to forget is "professionalism". This guy wasn't acting like a professional, he was acting like a thug.

My sentiment exactly. He made a damn solid point though. There is a serious discipline problem in play there. But that seems to be pandemic.

There are actually 2 serious discipline problems at play here. The first is the kid. If he was raised properly he would have shown the officer the respect he deserved. That problem is for his parents to resolve, not the Officer. The second is the officer. He should have shown more restraint and professionalism. I understand that the police get a lot of grief while on the job, but that does not justify his actions. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I know this sounds like I am disagreeing with you, but I am not. We agree, completely. Just felt the need to expand on it a little.

Both of them are in the wrong here. And hey, guess what? Mr. Tough Guy talking all big and bad to the police got to enjoy a beat down. And Mr. Unprofessional lost his job. So who won this fight? Society.

That much, I definitely agree with. But not in uniform, and NOT on a response call!

Anyone with that little control, would get that smack down soon enough without the baiting though.
