What Does it Mean to Taper Off Alcohol?
When individuals decide to reduce drinking, two different options are available:

I'm blessed in that I could always just walk away. When I hit 40 I wanted to get my pilots license and so quit drinking altogether. In spite of the fact I had my VFR License with Night Rating in 4 Months I just stopped drinking entirely for 17 years. Now I rarely have a scotch but the few times I do it's GOOD Scotch.. 8-)

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - For all intents and purposes I have quit as well. Having less than 3 drinks every couple of months only when I feel good already is quitting in my mind. Mostly because I carry a lot too. CC requires no booze. 8-)

Cold turkey detox is a stone biotch with out professional assistance. Even with tapering off you'll go through it too, when You finally decide that it's time to stop. Take the big plunge with the aid of Your PC Provider. You'll get through much better.

Amen SGT Whitmire, my step dad was an alcoholic and went the last half of his life without a drink. He also became a drug abuse and alcohol counselor as did my brother so some good things did come out of it.
