I'm a St. George Black Medallion holder from my time as an Armor Officer. I'm a Military Intelligence Officer now. Is it common for branch detailed officers to wear a medallion from another branch to official functions (ASUs)?

Yes, These are recognition of outstanding support or contribution to the branches. In the 62nd we nominated and had awarded the Engineer Regiments Bronze DeFleury to the Signals officer and NCOIC for their work on obtaining and installing the counter IED devices on our equipment saving who knows how many of our guys from IEDs, and the PA and Medic NCOIC who ran the BAS on deployment.
While stationed at Ft. Sill several of our NCOs received the order of St. Barbara for designing and building a firebase that was selected to serve as the doctrinal standard for an update to one of the FA manuals.
So yes if awarded the Officer can wear them.

CPT(P) (Join to see) As long as you wear as prescribed by AR 670-1. I don't see that there would be an issue with wearing it.

Yes sir. It's more common than you think. I actually got the Order of St. Michael (Aviation) before I got my own branch's(MI) award.
