I was selected for promotion after taking my first DA photo in glasses. LOL!

I don't recall AR 640-30 addressing glasses only that the Soldier ensure compliance with 670-1. 640-30 does defer to 670-1 for all uniform matters.
670-1 states that civilian prescription eyeglasses maintain a conservative appearance and are authorized for wear with all uniforms.
As civilian prescription eyeglasses are authorized IAW with 670-1 and 640-30 defers to 670-1, you should be good so long as whoever is looking at your photo agrees that the glasses you are wearing have a conservative appearance.
See AR 670-1, para 3–10. Eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses at apd.army.mil.

I say that for a couple reasons. 1) The CW3 I work with just had his done last week and that is something the photographer told him to do (remove his glasses). The photographer has been doing this a long time and has a very good understanding of what looks and works best. 2) You never know who is going to be looking at your file. AR 670-1 says as long as the glasses are conservative and not faddish they can be worn with the uniform. I think we all have come across an overzealous senior leader that has his or her own interpretation of "conservative and faddish." 3) Now this is more of a personal observation but going off of human nature, people will look at you and immediately and sub-consciously in some cases find weakness or some type of deficiency in another person. If you're wearing glasses, that could potentially be seen as a weakness or defect by another person. hope that helps to clarify. I was typing this on my cell and hit the post button before I was ready.
