Is it possible for a Split Ops recruit to change their MOS after BCT but before AIT?

I'm no subject matter expert on how ARNG operates as far as adjusting vacancies prior to attending AIT, but if they have already paid for your training slot, be prepared to go and request reclassification at the earliest allowable time based upon your contract obligation. If they haven't paid for your AIT slot yet, it never hurts to ask, but once again be prepared, because you may end up waiting longer to become MOSQ. Not every MOS has the same amount of training slots open at any given time, and active duty Army will always have priority for training slots that become available. Your pick of eligible MOS options will also be based upon what vacancies your unit has. I do wish you luck, but as a former 12B myself my suggestion is give it a try. I loved every minute of my time in that MOS!

Thank you for your kind response, and at the very end I ended up sticking with it. Shipping our in a few weeks.

PFC (Join to see) that is good to hear, and I think you'll do well as a 12B. Including 12B I ended up having three MOS in my career, the other two being 19D and 79R, so reclassification options are always there. If you decide to stick with ARNG past your initial enlistment term, you may be able to reenlist for the option to reclassify. You may even decide you want to try commissioning afterward. Continue to explore your options, but enjoy the current ride!

Yeah I agree the reason I wanted to change my MOS is to change my drill locations, my unit moved 2 hrs away from my original location, even though I signed for my specific location. I don’t want to drive 6hr in total each month

I would talk to training/readiness NCOs in your unit.
I wouldn't get my Hope's up though, you contracted for a slot and they are planning on you filling that slot.
The only hope I could see for that is if they have a more "in demand" vacancy.
Doesnt hurt to ask, but be prepared to get stuck with what you signed up for, at least through your first contract.

Yeah definitely thank you for your response and I have contacted them but they just see me as extra unnecessary paperwork for the past 5 month. Even my unit moved location to an even farther location, about 3 months ago but I did not know since I signed my contract 1 year ago. So I basically signed to a unit that moved without my knowledge as well. But I really hope I do get that MOS change that’s all I’ve been wanting. If you happen to stumble upon any new information feel free to respond, thank you LT
