Is it possible for someone who has a history of Tourette Syndrome to get into the National Guard?

Asking for a friend of mine who has a history of Tourette’s. He is not taking meds and has it controlled enough that he’s a full time city paramedic. I have no knowledge on this topic so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tourette's Syndrome is a DQ condition per DoDI 6130.03, Section 5.26, subparagraph N.

SGM Bill Frazer - I've googled that DoDI so many times that I decided to keep it marked as a Favorite

SGM Fraser is correct, in addition to Service standards being higher, they are not affected by union type determinations, nor are they subject to reasonable accommodation. Tourette’s can be very fickle regarding how it impacts the individual. It is best to check with a recruiter.

If he went Infantry, I don't think anyone would notice. One of my drills couldn't complete a sentence without using that universal F word.

Only way is to ask a recruiter- service requirements are much higher than many other.
