I've heard of a career counselor who did it. You have to install the certificates from your CAC onto your phone.

I’d still like to know why big Army basically took this ability away. My iphone 11 is probably way more secure than a government laptop.

It is not convenient, you still need a CAC reader, the ones that work for Android are not cheap and the software is not free.
And you won't be able to open encyrpted emails.
If you see someone reading email on a phone or tablet without a CAC reader, that is a mil device.
