Is it possible to be reassigned prior to arriving at my new unit at Fort Bragg?

Just got my orders and they say that's where I'm going, kinda bummed, I wanted 2-505 but it is what it is, any experience here? Or is it possible to request to go to 2-505?

grass always looks greener on the other side; until you cross the road and find out that a large dog crapped all over the sidewalk and the grass is astroturf.

Your orders should show what brigade your assigned to and when you arrive you're assigned to a battalion.

SFC(P) (Join to see)
SPC (Join to see) no usually when they slot you into a unit it's because they need x amount of soldiers so they wont change your unit on preference. It's the same way with when you PCS, needs of the Army always.

SPC (Join to see) Either way being assigned to the 82nd regardless of which unit is an awesome experience in its self. Especially a first assignment. Good luck.

I can tell you first hand that commo guys get moved around quite a bit within a brigade. Since 2-505 is in your brigade it wouldn't even require you to put it in for an intrapost transfer to get switched. Just stick around for a while and if you haven't been sent over there by the time you become an NCO or gain a reputation as a commo whizkid, go talk to your battalion command sergeant major and see if he is willing to work a trade with the 2-505 CSM.
