I’m am accepted to VMI, and I applied for the Marine national scholarship but I did not receive it. I hear that the Army has more money to give out for that kind of thing so I’m pursuing it to be able to afford VMI. As per my question I’m just wondering if say my 2nd or 3rd year at VMI, would I be able to switch over branches before I complete schooling and commission under the other branch instead of the Army.

Read your contract. No. These scholarships are not transferable. They are part of a commissioning program designed to fill boots for that services officer accessions targets. It's not mix and match.

The Army wouldn't even let me change major, never mind choose another service.

Unless you’re looking to go Navy-Marine, the scholarships aren’t transferable between service branches. If your plan is to not be a 2ndLt in the Army, you’ve already made your career mistake.

Under most circumstances no, there are exceptions to everything. With that said who signs a contract with the intention of breaking it???

Is it possible to be under an Army ROTC scholarship and switch to a Marine NROTC scholarship while in college?

First of all, if you receive a scholarship offer and then accept, you, in my opinion, would be accepting under false pretenses. If you start out knowing that you want to transfer to the Marines, how disingenuous is that to the Army and the PMS at VM? Just something to think about

It is about the contract.
Students can go to VMI and not commission, but it is an expensive school. It has a Navy ROTC program The school has that info on its website. Simple google can answer many of your questions.
