Is it possible to do an internship or CSP program in a different state from your duty station?

I am aware that I could start an internship or CSP program 180 days prior to my ETS date. I am trying to do in my hometown for 3-4 months. Is it also possible to use terminal leave after I come back to my duty station from my internship?

These questions are best answered by your TAP coordinator, but yes it is possible to do a CSP internship at a different location up to six months. You will be placed on permissive TDY and you can take terminal leave after.
However, all of that must fit within the last six months and you must complete TAP, including your capstone prior to that. That means you must be able to get there, do the internship, get back, clear, then take leave all within the final six months prior to ETS. You are not authorized to extend for the purpose of a CSP

I'm participating in the CSP as part of my retirement process. My last 6 months in the Army are covered by both chargeable (terminal leave) and non chargeable leave (CSP participation).
The answer is yes, but bear in mind, the CSP paperwork explicitly states that YOU are responsible for ALL costs associated with participation in the program, and will not be reimbursed by the Army.

SFC, do you have to come back to your duty station between csp participation and terminal leave? I was wondering if I can use terminal right after my csp since its the same location.

No, not at all.... I'm coming back for 10 days to clear the installation, but that has nothing to do with terminal/CSP participation. That's happening during my terminal.
But my CSP and terminal leave run right into each other.

so if it runs right into each other, could I clear out before my internship/csp starts? and not come back in between?

That's a very specific question you would have to work out with your command and garrison outprocessing.

Is it possible? Absolutely. Is it automatic? No.
You just need to be a squeaky wheel. I know of plenty of folks who did the internship before they took their terminal. I don't know what Job you are trying to do but just remember there are alot of Federal Agencies all over the US that can get you close to home. For example USDA has fields service centers in most counties across the US.
Good Luck.

is it possible to get rejected by the chain of command? I was wondering if there is a reason it should get rejected in any way. I want to know what's the plan B in case that happens.

SPC (Join to see) nothing is guaranteed. There is always a chance of getting denied but that’s where relationships and speaking with your leadership comes into play. The more information they have the better
