So, this girl is 19, 4 months TIS and made Tech. Sgt (E-6) already. Typo? Misprint? Or horrible lapse in judgement?

Has anyone else heard about this?

1. She is going into the air force so she is special. 2. She can sing so she is special. 3. She will have more bronze stars for 90 day deployments to hell holes like major air bases, never going to shit holes to entertaine the fighters (but if she did she'd be a shoe in for a ph), than any 11b. But hey her mission is top priority. Can't get a medavac or a flight to start mid tour...but she is coming to a major safe base for you

MAJ, that was not very constructive. I can understand your frustration, but you can't blame her. She's completely naîve to the impact of her special treatment and a product of the AF Entertainment recruiting system.

I down vote you because you added nothing to this discussion. Putting down other service members, regardless of MOS or branch is not what military service is about. It would only take less than 2minutes to Google what military band members actually do.

I know plenty of AF security Forces that deployed for convoy security in Afghan and Iraq, while my National Guard unit was activated to guard their bases for 2 years while they rotated through deployments. I gained a lot of respect for the AF during that time, yes some was different but not as much as you think. The original topic has been beat to death it is what it is, if that's the way they get band members then who cares it wont affect any of us down at the unit level. I know what i had to do for my rank but that has no bearing on anyone but me, I also am proud to be one of the few that earned an AF skill identifier during that time and it is listed on my DD214, not sure the Army would have awarded an MOS to AF personnel had the roles been reversed.

What you meant to ask is why do we continue waste 600 positions on band members and direct support staff while critical mission essential positions continue to go unfilled.
Oh, and there's a war going on, or so I heard.
