Is it possible to get stationed in Florida while active duty in the army?

I have a friend who lives in Florida, he’s in SF I believe. And he’s stationed there. He was giving me advice just in general when it comes to the military and future decisions and what not. Is the base there in Florida strictly for Navy or SF? Because I tried looking up the area and the base itself but I couldn’t find much of who can be stationed there. Is it more likely if you’re in the navy or SF, or have a job related to that?

Your friend is talking about 7th SF Group at Eglin Air Force Base. There is a phase of Ranger School there and they have about 200 personnel and there is an SF group there as well. Most support MOSs can go if they are airborne, 100 GT and have a secret clearance. The area is near Destin Florida

It is very narrow and not really for junior soldiers. Generally senior NCOs and Officers. There are Army personnel on AC/RC Duty, serving at Camp Rudder at Elgin in support of the Ranger School, the SF Dive School in Key West, and Joint assignments at MAC Dill with CENTCOM and SOUTHCOM.

I would refrain from letting people know you have friends in SF. There are plenty of crazies in the world that may try to take advantage of that information.

I've only seen Army National Guard in Florida. I haven't seen any army active duty bases in Florida.

Damn unlikely for a new troop- SF, Rgr, Centom staff, etc. no other Army units.

There are a few bases in Florida that have positions for Active duty Army Soldiers. BLUF it depends on a few factors, mostly your MOS, your rank, and the Dept. of Army needs to fill those positions.

Yes, you can go to MacDill AFB (Tampa), Homestead (Miami-ish), or Eglin AFB (Pensacola, I think).
