I’ll be headed to Fort Huachuca for AIT after basic training to become a 35F, and I’m curious if it’s possible to treat myself to a half sleeve during this time? I, of course, will ask permission before I do so. I’m just curious if anyone has gotten a couple tattoos during this time?

Do you expect to become corpulent in your later life? If so, get tattoos that will suit your older body mass.

During AIT yes you can get a tattoo but going about it is tricky. I'm a Tango here at Huachuca so my experience will differ but we share some of the same rules. Mainly you can get a tattoo but you'll need a tattoo counseling from a DS and you'll probably need to phase up first before you could go off base to get one. You'll have to ask to be sure for you foxes but I'm telling you it's most likely possible.

As long as you do not violate the regulations that apply to tattoos. Also, keep in mind if you get an infection and have to miss a moment of training you will be subject to separation as a non line of duty injury could be determined. Your best bet is to wait until you graduate, or speak with your NCOIC.

Yea, I got a tattoo in 68W (91B back in the old days of the Army) AIT. While I don't regret the tattoo, hindsight is that I should have probably waited.

It’s possible, you don’t need to ask permission, you just need to be allowed off base which will only happen after you’ve gained that privilege from your ait command. Their is no rule saying an ait soldier cannot get a tattoo. I got several when I was in ait 5 years ago.

I got a tattoo in AIT, which wasn't allowed per my commander/company's regulation. I was like, hell yeah, a tattoo. A few of my battles and I went and got some, didn't really tell anyone, and then this... soldier... snitched on us and got us all article 15s. However, some people got away with it, so I mean go for it I guess.

You will first need to attain GOLD phase before you are allowed off post. And before you jump into getting a tattoo in Sierra Vista, I would highly recommend finding a shop that abides by health regulations. Arizona does not have the health regs that the rest of the country uses. I would recommend Black rose or Studio 22

This reminds me of the first day of airborne school and a couple of idiots showed up with bandages over their biceps and sure enough they had already gotten jump wings tattooed there. The AIs had great fun smoking them for about ten minutes. There is plenty of time for tattoos later-focus on becoming a soldier first.
