Is it possible to go from Regular Army to AGR before your assignment is up?

I finished my obligation with the Army National Guard and decided to reenlist into Active Duty instead of ETSing. I was really hoping to land an AGR job because I felt it was more suitable for my plans. Is it possible to still do so?

You have to be discharged from your current obligation. I don't know if you could get a conditional release from your contract in this case. However, I have been in hybrid AC/RC units where an active duty Soldier is loaned to a subordinate RC unit to fill a full time need. My OC/T support unit had a SGM loaned to them for about 8 months to fill the BN CSM position.
I don't know how long you have until you ETS, but maybe you can convince the appropriate parties that you can serve in a similar capacity until you ETS, then apply to fill the position. However, I imagine these situations would be very uncommon.

look up prior service business rules that will give you an understanding of what currently out there and talk to a career counselor and get a 368 rolling from them.
