I went and spoke with my retention NCO today about reenlisting for 6 years, when he presented me with duty station choices and report dates, nothing really worked out for what I was looking for, I maybe expected one good option but there were none, I have been in 6 years already and took whatever station was given to me with no complaints before but ive been stuck at two stations already that I have been miserable with, he told me if I waited throughout the month of October a ton of duty slots would start opening like crazy because its the new fiscal year. I am just trying to see if there is any truth to that, if not then I will just end up having to take what I get and get over it but if there is some truth to that then it gives me a little bit of hope and calms my nerves a bit.

This is not true. Every week the EDAS cycle refreshes with new assignments (Wednesday's). If I was you I would get with your S1 and ask them to pull up what is in EDAS.

Exactly what he said. Your Retention NCO is misinformed. In addition, EDAS projects out for 16 months.
Your Career Counselor can still send up a request to ask for two duty assignments.

That is not case, assignments are created based on the needs at a particular location/s. As of now, the Selective Reenlistment Bonuses have been suspended due to the lack of funding, but on October 1 the SRB will be back for certain MOSs. If you you could wait 5 more days, you maybe eligible for a bonus.

One option used to be Re-up for the 6, do a short-tour, come back to station of choice if you called your branch manager about halfway through... Sometimes the short tours aren’t always grand, but they get you what you want in the end! Then, you’ll have 2 left, do it again... Nice way to knock out your short-tours by getting what you want and where!
