Yes and no, it depends on the duration of your temporary profile. If your profile is more than 90 days you can take a record subject to your profile restrictions, you just miss out on the pushup event. Best way forward if you are flagged and trying to get off the flag, tell your doctor and have him recommend either reducing your profile if or extending it to the 90 days, or just telling you to suck it up until your wrist heals and stop failing PT tests in the first place, if that is the case.

SPC (Join to see) you cannot take a record APFT while on temporary profile. If you have a permanent profile you can take a record APFT and just not take the event that you are exempt from.

A temporary profile must be a consecutive 90 days, I believe, and you can be granted a record of test. It just be approved by the commander.

I was pushing th u injury, failed ky record and got stuck on profile and in recovery for months while flagged. I did finally get to do am alternate to pass and get out of special pop of. (They would not allow me to go to the gym to bike or use am elliptical, I had to go to or formation and just walk. I did the 2.5 walk in well under 30, walking was meh.)
I finally got commands blessing to take a record. They then transferred me companies (I had an admin job and got moved back to shift to work special housing.)
They did me dirty though, someone crossed out record on my or card and hand wrote in diagnostic.
I got screwed over. New command wouldnt have it, stuck on a flag until i fully recovered. That was one of the moments that pushed me to just stop caring and ets.

SPC (Join to see) - I believe the recover time is twice the profile so 90 days total until you can take an APFT per regulations. The thing is can you wait or do you want to risk hurting yourself and your career? Be careful to avoid a quick solution that can have longtime implications that may seem helpful now but hurt you in the future.

LTC (Join to see) - The recovery time changed a year or two ago, now profiles are written to include the recovery time.

And the date you can take a record APFT will be on the profile form.

If you did then you would violate your profile and if the injury re-occurred then you could be subject to the UCMJ for failure to comply with Surgeon Generals Orders of not complying with regulations not to mention that you could have to your own expenses on medical bills. what you could do is to contact a JAG Officer for correct clarification. the whole point of the Profile is to allow you to heal in reasonable time and return to duty.
