Is it unfair/unjust that there is a promotion board once a year, but a QMP board every month?

If a person deserves to get "fired" they should be fired at the time of innocent not years later or when it's convenient for the organization. The military can not be compared to civilian jobs. A Soldier can not be released from their contract because they came to the realization that the Military wasn't for them but the military can release a Soldier before their contract is over because they "hired" too many people at a time of war. Oh wait, it's a volunteer Army

This was kind of my point. It seems like the QMP is targeting 'soon to be' retirement eligible NCO's for elimination prior to retirement.
Yes, I know, don't mess up and you have nothing to worry about. Got it.
However, They are QMPing for A15 that happened to someone 12 years ago when they were 18 and a PFC.
One NCO we had received a 3/3 NCOER 4 years ago, and all NCOERs after were 1/2 or 2/2.

I agree with that its a dam shame that you could be like me 3.5 years tell retirement and
I get recommend for the advance course I was unable to go at time so they delayed because I had ankle surgery and in couple months after that I was recommend for QMP
I put in my appeal and I sent my paper work forward to the Pac in which they were to forward to the post commander and it sat on someone desk and missed the deadline I found it on the desk I said send it forward and it came back about a week later recommend disapproval be it was late. I was so mad. I am still mad to this day after 42 years being out.

They shouldn't have a QMP Board once a Month that really No Good And If they are Looking Back at EER back from years that is totally Insane once a Year Like it used to be.
Some People get in a Bad Unit Where they seem to be okay at First than they start by trying to make your life Hell. I was in a unit where Both the motor Sergeant and the Officer in Charge started By trying to make my life a living hell. I had never been in such a hell hole. the motor Sgt came up to me and said to me You better straighten up and I said what did I do. He got Mad and said you meet me at the motor pool in morning at 5:00 am in which I was there But he never showed up. So I think that he thought better of that. From the day forward he and the Officer were treating me like Crap. I had been
never been so discussed in my life. My wife was about 7 months pregnant in which I had only couple months left sent her back home and when she had the Baby there were problems and the red cross notified me and they tried to keep me there and they delayed my signing over my tool box and held for 2 days more then they said that he needs to Come back and the S1 NCO Said No he only has a Couple of months left and he went to the BN Commander and HE AUTHORIZED ME TO LEAVE and not return had sent all my stuff back with her stuff only Kept what I needed. When I arrived back to Washington state I MET BROTHER AT THE AIRPORT AND HE HAD INFORMED ME THAT MY SON DIED. I TOLD HIM ABOUT WHAT I WENT THROUGH AND I SAID I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO GERMANY.

I am not for sure where you got the information about a QMP board every month. I might be missing something but I was tracking there are 3 QMP boards this year and they are conducted in the 2,3 and 4th quarter of the year, which happens to be when boards are meeting. If they are meeting every month it is news to me. I also feel that it wouldn't be a bad idea. Why keep a SM around any longer than they need to be? I say if you don't screw up you don't have anything to worry about.

If they are every quarter, something is going wrong at my unit, they are issuing the 'new' counselings to the QMP people every month.

I thought it was during the SFC board. I still disagree with the QMP Board. I was recommend for the advance course for E7 and Couldn't go I had to have surgery and a month or so went by and then I was told that I was recommend for QMP which doesn't make sense can someone please explain. I had 16.5 years I would have liked to retire which I believe I was screwed. I have been out for 42 years and I truly miss the army so Bad.

SSG (Join to see) A commander with General Court Martial Authority may request initiation of a QMP for any SSG thru CSM assigned to their command . Is your unit counseling people that have been notified that they are subject to QMP for the upcoming boards?

Yes, it seems they are getting the notifications spaced out. It appears as if its every month. Quite a few SSG.

QSP/QMP meet during the promotion boards, and these are two wholly separate processes.
I think it's very fair that an NCO who gets a relief for cause is separated from the Army. The Army isn't welfare, people don't get a claim on a job in the Army just because it hurts them to get fired.
QSP thins out the ranks for stagnant grade/MOS and makes room for promotion. Those selected get the option of declassing or applying for TERA, and can still serve their time in a reserve component and earn a reserve retirement.

SSG (Join to see) I'm brainwashed, you twit? I've had to deliver about 20 QMP notices to Soldiers. Have you ever had to tell a soldier their career is over because of one mistake? I seriously doubt you've had to shoulder that weight.
As for the SSG, he was talking about a program in effect decades ago and his comments had no bearing on today's QMP process. His comments were intended to hijack the thread toward his own past.

SFC (Join to see) you are correct I haven't had to tell anyone their career was over. Do you even read what you write? I don't know your experience and you only know what he said that's it, why so judgmental? If you don't like it move on he could have a point! We are supposed to be professionals. Calling me names by the way only makes my point.

SFC (Join to see) so how do I know the leader identifying an NCO as substandard isn't garbage themselves? I've seen it more than once, a hard charging NCO with a fully qualified NCOER but after working with them they are better than that. When I ask questions I find out about their rater and what troubles me is I've seen this more than once! Of course I've also seen the other side I see a highly qualified who has no idea of what their job is or how to take care of Soldiers, my point is we get rid of Soldiers bases on these NCOER s are we really doing what's best or is there a better way? Granted I don't see anyone being QMP ed over a fully qualified NCOER but that might stop them from getting promoted. The best is I once saw an E5 newly promoted come to me his rater and. Senior rater were the same person, another E5 how does this happen?? I believe if a Soldier gets Qmp Ed the board needs to investigate not just the Soldier but the rating scheme of that Soldier

SSG (Join to see) you are grossly misinformed about the QMP process. SGTs are not eligible for QMP. The NCOs who receive these RFC NCOERs are given ample time to appeal their NCOERs as well. It's not until all administrative actions are complete does the record get referred to QMP. As for E5s being the rater and senior rater, I'm sure it's happened once but NCOER review and HRC oversight have evolved over the years and evaluations that are against policy are rejected by the evaluations branch. The QMP board evaluates the whole Soldier, it's not an automatic separation. In the years I delivered the notifications, they followed a very predictable trend. RFC NCOERs, DUIs, multiple NCOES failures and anything that showed a lack of character or integrity resulted in separation. A single poor NCOER, failure to attend NCOES, and cases with letters of support from commanders resulted in being retained.
