Is organizing formation runs with cadence calling once a week for vets and non-vets a good idea?

I had this idea yesterday, I want to put together a Runner's Club that consists of formation runs with cadence calling for veterans. I used to hate group PT but I've come to miss the activity and teambuilding. I thought this would be a great way to network between veterans in the local area and motivate them to stay active during the week. I imagine this to be once a week in the early morning at a local park. Everyone shows up, we stretch out, and run for an hour at the typical formation run pace. Is this a feasible idea? I've done a local survey with my veteran buddies who told me I was nuts and that no one would ever join me in this endeavor. SO, I'm hoping responses here would be more diverse.

On the list of "things I'd rather never do again" running in formation with a cadence is pretty high up there...

As an avid runner (well, ok...down for a week with a sprain at present), I'd enjoy something like this-maybe without the cadence all the time though. Getting a group of vets together to run might be a good idea; the formation thing might be less popular though...just my $.02
Kinda thought about trying to organize something similar in my neck o' the woods...that, or a ruck march.
