Is "The Legend of Bagger Vance" motivating for golfers though IMDB states there are a lot of rule violations throughout the movie?

One of my top ten favorite movies, it is, nonetheless, a movie, which is generally, by design, simply a means for a couple hours of escapism in one form or another. That said, what sets this movie and so very few movies apart is that the main character, Bagger Vance, brings a richly mystical presence to the screen, one who teaches a war weary Captain Junuh and a young, highly impressionable Hardy Greaves that though golf is a game, even a potentially profitable one, there are some significant things we can learn about life and ourselves while playing it. I can see any number of other actors playing various roles within the cast, but Will Smith pulled off another cinematic coup in his career in this title role. More to your specific question, SGT (Join to see), when I watch police or military movies, I am often amazed at the overt production errors committed in movies. It's as if no one gives a hoot about accuracy or authenticity much anymore. As to whether or not a golfer can learn anything from this movie? Probably not to perfect his swing or putt, but there are plenty of morally valuable one-liners to go around for any person or profession.

Fair enough. Will Smith did very much hold an aura of mystery. The end was a nice touch too. Thanks for sharing.

One of the best endings to a movie, ever. Kinda hoped for a while that a sequel would be made before Jack Lemmon really did kick off!!! Ain't happening now.

Let me guess:
When he wanted to throw the ball from the thick woods?
When he moved the leaf and the ball moved during his last few strokes?

Hollywood often is not accurate. I had and O-3 with an EOD patch laugh at me when I asked him about the movie The Hurt Locker. I recall the main soldier was protected by too few soldiers and I forget what else seemed phony but this picture says it all!

LTC Stephen Conway - Very true. But the question remains - are the flaws too much for a passionate or even hobbyist golfer to enjoy ?

SGT (Join to see) - I am not a gofler and I have not seen the movie but your premis made you post it here on RP so I bet the movie is not 100% realistic.
