I'm trying to see if theirs a way to get a particular MOS but my battalion retention NCO is telling me there aren't any open slots. Is it best to wait it out or is their someone I could call at branch that would be able to help?

No you cannot. Branch managers don't control school seats. There is a limited number of seats available per MOS for reclass, only a small portion of class seats go to reclass, with the majority of them going to initial entry.
There is a very real possibility that the MOS you want will never come up while you're in your reenlistment window, or that when your Career Counselor requests it, one of the other 100 people in the Army requesting it doesn't get it first.

They get loaded in waves as they are released to reclass. They may load 15 class seats or just one. Your best bet is to have a list of three or four MOSs you'll take and check in weekly. What's the MOS you're trying to get?

Yes. Atleast! I wish I would of waited a little longer myself. I missed out on an extra $25K bonus :-( but my class is only 8 seats so I got very lucky

They should load up every month. Have them keep trying and hold out to reenlist. Mine kept trying. I was in the similar situation. 3 wks later I got a call and was asked if I want to lock it in.

You can check the in/out calls your self. http://www.armyreenlistment.com/board.html
Click on reclassification in/out class.
In order to reclass your current mos has to be over straight and the requested mos must be under straight unless you are shooting for one of the packet mos's listed on the HRC website.

A section of the unit bulletin board will be properly labeled for the display of retention material. Current program information will also be posted, i.e. SRB information, In/Out Calls Message, etc.

As the other folks have said, it will be less seats for a reclass than for an IET. You may also want to look at the HRC IN/OUT calls to see if the MOS is overstrength, especially at the higher ranks. The way those will open up is when those people start retiring, or they reclass themselves. Then, depending on what MOS you want to reclass to, ensuring you have the right qualifications (GT score being the main disqualifier from what I've seen).

Yea the MOS I want is definitely under strength and my line scores qualify me for it. I'm probably just gonna keep on checking every month thanks SGT
