Is there a minimum amount of time a soldier needs to be in a duty position to get on that MOS promotion list?

I was given the answer by my S1 officer, and unfortunately, a soldier doesn't need to be in an MOS for any specified time to get on that MOSs promotion list. As long as a soldier possesses that MOS he/she is trying to get promoted into, with the flick of a pen and a 4100, they can interchange in between the MOSs and ranks. I think it's crazy.

Yes two parts- TIS = Time In Service and TIG = Time In Grade. There are minimums for each at each rank, with very few waivers.

Duty assignment, as in MOS, to be on that MOSs promotion list. I am aware of the time in service and time in grade requirements, and I'd be surprised at any SFC/E7 that wasn't. So, that wasn't my question. Thank you for the response.

Each grade has a TIS/TIG requirement. It is unlikely that anyone would be reciwed for promotion inside of a 90 day period. On the other hand there are also mandatory timelines for at least E4 and below, and board representation for NCOs. You should review TIS/TIG and local policy. Thank you for your service.

Your question was, and is not truly clear. It appears that you have it figured out. Thank you for your service.
