Is there a point where a Soldier has been in too long?

To elaborate, can an individual Soldier become outdated?
Possibly too out of touch with the current Military?
I know that RCP should take care of some people like this but what about individuals who come in late or have a break in service?

If my son wasn't currently serving perhaps I wouldn't know about AKO or feel the need to stay current on 670-1. Look at old-guy contributions from a "threat" perspective.
I haven't served "under oath" for a long time however, I'm going to share my dated expertise on a threat that doesn't fall under current language e.g. "terrorism", "terrorist" or "insurgency".
Reintroducing the old - new "enemy". The "Russian Intelligence Community". The children of my opposites throw parties when they make you waste time, authenticate false orders, and especially when they can piss you off "playing a game" not in the current terrorist playbook. I've not been to Kabul, but I have been inside the Kremlin in Moscow and Russia's Naval War College in St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad).
