I’ve been told that we need to “figure out” a way to train soldiers while still on minimal manning (for clarification, if you’re not immediately essential to a task getting done you’re on standby). I’ve been teaching my soldiers via video conferences and going over some scout tasks for my section.

The majority of things I’m teaching are obviously “Distribution Restriction: Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited” which means if you want to learn about it, pretty much anyone can find it.

I don’t really know the policy on creating online videos to actually be able to teach, not just my squad, but to apply it to many others within my unit, division, hell even army wide.

I think in general we can agree it’s not common to see “how to be a barrel chested freedom fighter” videos on tings like YouTube etc. I guess my question is, is there anything against creating videos to post on the internet for public access with the documents being completely unclassified and publicly accessible? Or is there a reg I can’t find or policies I can’t find in regards to this. I do know that there are unclassified documents that are still FOUO, but these documents I teach from all state distribution unlimited...

The more I do this training, the more I think about how beneficial it could be to fellow soldiers, and if it can be explained in a very easy to understand, articulated way, it would be great for soldiers to learn on their own free time.

Any insight would be great! My leadership just kinda shrugged their shoulders so.... just want to make sure I’m not doing anything I shouldn’t be before I consider making a video archive, especially with this new excellence badge.

Excuse my ignorant self if Im missing something huge here. Lastly, I would like to note, I do not intend to monotone my videos either, that’d be a little wrong in my eyes, in case that somehow ties into solicitation to soldiers or something...Thanks in advance for any insight!

Yes you can! Kinda lol, go talk to your PAO and maybe JAG to know your left and right limits. Remember to not “endorse” anything as a Soldier, so you are not representing the Army. If you do, it should def go through PAO. Good luck!

HRC, TRADOC, USAREC, and just about every CoE all have youtube channels.
HRC broke up the OER over about a dozen videos which used to be mandatory training.
That said, your first choice should be to share your own videos over AKO or your unit's SharePoint, or the CVR Microsoft Teams app.
The first two options requires your people to use a CAC reader, Teams just requires them to set up their account.
Your last choice should be to set up a private youtube channel and share with just your people.

Let me ask my training NCO. My unit has been conducting our drills virtually, using Google Classrooms. I'll see if he knows any regs or policies or try and contact ojr BN PAO or S2 section
