As the title states, is there an exception to policy for RCP for a critical shortage MOS?

Basically, I got out 6 years ago as a Specialist with 8 years and 7 months TIS. I've spoken with a recruiter and I'm good to rejoin aside from my TIS as that currently puts me over RCP. My MOS is 35T, which as I understand it is a critical shortage. My recruiter dropped me after my RCP issue came up, so I want to know what steps, if any, can be taken to get me eligible for reentry?

I have never heard of exceptions (waivers) to the RCP for PS applicants applying for active duty. Not even in the mid 2000's when the Army was making exceptions and approving waivers for everything. While the RCP's did change a few times by DA, USAREC was not authorized to grant waivers (exception to policy) for PS applicants who were not eligible based on the RCP. Unless DA once again changes the RCP for your rank in your favor, Active Duty is not going to be an option for you. However, your RCP issue does not disqualify you for enlistment in a Reserve Component.

Thank you SFC Fullerton. That was the information that I was looking for, even if it was the answer that I didn't want to hear.

SPC Dustin Rhine - It is a shame that the USAREC recruiter you talked to did not make that clear to you. Some will just ghost an unqualified prospect instead of looking them in the eye and explaining their disqualification, and if necessary, show them in the regulations. Good Luck

No, RCPs are based on active service, not MOS.
You will not be able to enlist back to active duty with your current rank being past RCP.

Active Duty. I should have clarified. Guard or Reserves are still an option, if only as a last resort.
